Story Text Color different from block color?

I want my block Text color to be White, but the story portion in the middle is white, and I like it but when I change the block option colors to White it makes the middle text unreadable for things like administrative menus. It's driving me nuts, is there no way to do this in either the CSS or the thmtl?
