Images in Static Pages

Ok..I have some static pages where I use pictures.
I place the picture in the public html/static pages directory, and use basic html to call the pictures up. ( img src etc) , works great..

Except...

When I utilize the static page to appear in an index page, the pictures are no longer viewable.

Why not??

Use absolute URLs for the images.

Weird.... Works now in topics, but not as a static page. Thats ok..I now have the desired result, as not viewed as a static page
