I have full administation rights to my site, however, even when I write my on story for the front page I get a ... access denied message when trying to edit it and it shows all stories as "read-only". For some reason the site doesn't seem to acknowledge I am a full administrator. There are only two who have access to these rights. The other administrator seems to have no trouble?

Check that you are indeed a member of the "Root" group.
