This is going to be a simple question, I'm sure but I really don't know the answer so I'm going to assume that "no question is a dumb question".

Currently, my domain name is pointing to . www.unitedstates-america.net. I want it to point to www.unitedstates-america.net/unitedstates/.
Where on my site OR in my geeklog configuration do I change this? Question

Thank you in advance....

Hmmm, it is what you call easy Mr. Green

You are running apache on a linux box in most probably a shared hosting environment.

The short answer to the question would be the redirect capacity of .htaccess

However ... life wouldn´t be as wonderfull if this easy answer is not really correct.

Your domain name has been linked to a nameserver, when you registered it, and that one is pointing to your host.

That host, has assigned you a dedicated or virtual IP, which in it turn will serve the root directory of your domain name.

Now since you are running apache, this root web directory is part of your server config, and you don´t have access to it. You can use a .htaccess file to do a redirect, but it is MUCH easier, just to move your OLD geeklog installation to a "backup" directory and move the ../unitedstates to your root one.

It is just a question of a few moving arounds, and updating your config.php and your done.

This will ensure a clean install, without the hassle of using .htaccess to perform the redirect.

Why not do an upgrade in the first place ?

Wow! Sounds complicated. How can I learn about this? What is my next step to understand so I can do the "clean install?". Thanks.

Actually it is really
not complicated.

You installed your new GL in a sub directory of your website.
The only thing you need to do is move it to the root directory.

Some questions you should ask yourself.

What do I want to do with the old GL ?
Do I still need it ?

And again, why not upgrade ?
Do you really want to loose all your articles of the old GL ?
