When installing i tried using SSH to change the permissions of the files and folders as stated in the installation guide and I found out i cant connect to my server with SSH. It said not to use FTP clients to change the permissions so i havnt tried to use that yet

I was wondering what an alternative method of doing this would be. Thanks.

I talked to my host to get access to my php.ini file to change the register_globals=on and well they told me that they uploaded the file to my site and that seems to do nothing for me at all.... Any advice there. I did it by the .htacccess method and that does work but i would like to change it so i can see what errors i am getting too. thanks.
