i want to be able to allow users to create stories without having to login, but instead of having the story say anonymous, i would like to give them the ability to type in a name. just like here in the forums, but instead, when on the contribute link. is that possible?

It is not currently possible, but I imagine that it wouldn't take much to hack it in. It would require some database changes though...
