I unpacked the tarball into my folder /admin and configured all the files with the correct paths. Then the directions say to go to http://yourgeeklogsite/admin/install/install.php to start the install and I recieved an UNKNOWN page error. So then I looked in the admin directory and I can't even find a folder named install?

Am I doing something stupid here?

What do you mean you unpacked it into your "admin" folder? Geeklog comes with its own admin folder (under public_html) and the installation instructions refer to that directory ...
