I lean toward using the Filemgmt plugin because it is tired and true. But Easyfile looks interesting and gives you a lot more flexibility with rights on each file. Which do you think is best?

Have the same questions. Easyfile gives group permissions while filemgmt does not. Filemgmt is part of the search engine on the site while Easyfile is not. If could combine the two it would be great.
