Date Won't Change. Wuz Up?

Hello... I missed writing on a particular date last week. I tried to go back and change the date on the site so it would reflect "that date", say the 6th..
I continued to print the 16th.. which is today even tho I changed the date pull down. What did I do wrong?
Please advise.
