Hello Guys,

Does anyone know how I can minimise the GL search result?

I only want certain area of my postings to be available to the visitors that perform the search. Is this possible?

Regards

Can you be more specific?

The search results respect Geeklog's permissions, so if the current user is not allowed to see a story, it won't show up in the search results. Would that help?

bye, Dirk

Thanks Dirk,

Because my hosting website heavily relies on GL.
Registration process, thank you pages, unsuccesful payment messages, payment redirection etc are all in static.

So if anybody types anything even a letter, everything comes up.

I wouldn't like to disable the search feature as it is serving as an added advantage to the site.

I want the visitors to get to these pages through the given links and redirection and not geting to the individual pages through the search engine.

Or do you recon I disable the search, this also apply to the stats.php as well.

So, in other words, you don't want static pages to be searchable?

You could comment out (or remove) the search function in the static pages functions.inc file. Or, as I said, set the permissions such that only authorized personal can see the pages that shouldn't show up in the search results.

Thanks Dirk.

Just set the following.

$_CONF['linksloginrequired'] = 1;
$_CONF['searchloginrequired'] = 1;

This practically means disabling these features for the visitors.

Well still serves a purpose, but no search capabiliy for the visitors.

Thanks..
