I just installed GeekLog and I'm trying to set up a heiarchy. Rather than walking around like a blind man in the desert, I'm going to outline my problem here and hope that some kind soul(s) will take pity on me and offer some guidance. I don't know the proper terminologies for GeekLog, so please bear with me.

I'm trying to set up a personal weblog. I want to put all the posts (stories? articles?) in subcategories (subtopics? subsections?) under the parents of people, places, things, and ideas and have them alphabetized. Like this:

People
-Doe, Jane
-Smith, John
-Schmoe, Joe

Places
-Neverneverland
-Shangrila
-Xanadu

Things
-Pet Rocks
-Pickles
-Yo-yos

Ideas
-Freedom
-Love
-Peace

Is this possible with GeekLog? If so, how do I do it?

Geeklog doesn't support subtopics.

You could try Tom Willet's Menu plugin, though, which includes a subtopic hack.

bye, Dirk

I saw and installed that plugin yesterday, but haven't been able to create subtopics with it. Following the README didn't help, so I left a request for help.

If I can't get the plugin to work, I may just have to display the topics alphabetically and put some symbols in front of the topic names to get them where I want them to appear, under the four parent topics.

If I have to do that, is there any way to turn off the number of articles showing under the topics? I hate to do that, but it would look silly to have "*People (0/0)" displayed when there are several "**" pseudo-subtopics displayed below it.

Text Formatted Code
// Show the number of stories in a topic in Topics Block
$_CONF['showstorycount'] = 1;

// Show the number of story submissions for a topic in Topics Block
$_CONF['showsubmissioncount'] = 1;

May I suggest you have a look in the documentation?

Thank you for the help and the reminder to look beforehand. BTW, it is wonderful documentation. Now, I guess I should USE IT, huh?
