Demo portal block not working

I am tinkering with the geeklog.net demo site

I was logged in as admin, created a new block, enabled it, set it as a portal block with url http://www.npr.org/rss/rss.php?topicId=2
and saved it.

When I go to the homepage the block is there but it says "there was a problem reading this feed see errror.log" but in my browser window I am able to open the xml feed of above URL

Help ??

The feed works for me locally but not from the demo site. No idea why, sorry.
