SpamX - does not create spamx.log

It could be the way my host has his server set up, but SpamX did not create its own spamx.log file.
Consequently, when I tried to access the log, got errors and had to create it manually and CHMOD it to 775 like my other logs.
This is not mentioned in the Install document, or did I miss it?

I have no idea why but this only happens sometimes. I did 6 installs in all and it did not create the log in 3 of them. Two in ver 1.3.9 and one in ver 1.3.7. There seems to be no set pattern to why it does not create the log.
