Or you did not read the Docs, which are free as well, and perfectly clear. Can we help you installing? Geeklog is worth it!!
Dutch Geeklog sites about camping/hiking:
www.kampeerzaken.nl | www.campersite.nl | www.caravans.nl | www.caravans.net

Actually the installation directions are incorrect..

The installation procedure makes reference to the logs folder but then tells you to run this file - Open your browser and navigate to http://yourgeeklogsite/admin/install/install.php.

However, the proper location to that file is in:

http://yourgeeklogsite/public_html/admin/install/install.php

So, honestly it really does start you off on the wrong foot to begin with.. and really makes one think is it worth my while to install this when I am not sure the directions are even correct. I will give it a go regardless. I just hope I do not waste a couple days of my time for nothing.

This is simply wrong. If you follow the instalation instructions you will see that the URL to your site should point to your public_html folder, so public_html should not be part of the installation url.
