Geeklog Forums

Hey I've installed Geeklog, and started making my own theme and this that and what not, and then I suddenly realized... crap, I don't even know how to, or if I can ban users!

Now on some forums this might not be a problem, but I run a Christian site, which means we regularly have users come on and start harassing members because they're Christians, posting images that are less than appropriate etc.

Am I missing something, or is geeklog just essentially a free for all?

I believe in the forum's config, you can block anon posting. Then use Tom's ban plugin from this thread.

If it's just the forum you're worried about, you can ban IPs from the forum by selecting the appropriate entry in the drop down box next to each post.

Otherwise, as Chuck mentioned, the ban plugin is great for banning people from your entire site.

See, you can learn something new every day. We don't use the forum, so I didn't know about this feature. Good to know for the future. Thanks Turias.

OK good, but... wait THIS forum script is the one I downloaded, correct? (A friend is handling most of the installation, I just screw things up when I try) This looks kinda like phpBB but it seems to not be.
I downloaded it and the Gl messanger or something for private messaging.

The users of the site were all used to phpBB so I wanna try and mimic that as much as possible.

But OK so long as I have IP banning I'll be OK. And I'll make sure to extend it to the whole site, we have a few trolls who can't get enough of bugging our users.
