Display Featured Story for X Days?

I was wondering to Display Featured story for certain number days/weeks/months on the home page? Then when expired time is up then the story would only show in thier particular topic and not in the homepage?

This is a highly requested feature that might make it into 1.3.10. Right now, everything has to be done manually.
