Change State Code to Chapman Codes

I want to enable the state field to accept UK county chapman codes which have three characters. Do I just change field size in SQL or does something else need doing?

The site is at Bunting Society.

I think changing the field size is all that is needed. Having a backup of your database certainly can't hurt, though ...

Thanks a lot Dirk. I have changed state field from 2 to 3 characters and zip from 5 to 8 characters to allow UK county codes and post codes to be entered in events.
