Will I run into any problems if I have 3 different GL sites on one server. They will each be in their own directory and each will have its own database. I have tried searching for the answer using "multiple" "2" "two" etc. Can't find it.

in each directory "geeklog" there is a config.php
as long as they each point to a different DB name and Use you shouldnt have any issues at all.

I have had 4-5 sites on my IIS5 server, I also tried to make a new site based upon the data allready in one of the DB's and i didnt seem to have any issues.

Well, installing several sites on one server is trivial - put them each in their own directories and make sure to set the paths and URLs correctly. You could even run them off of one database by giving each site a different table prefix (in config.php).

When installing multiple GL sites on one server on different databases, if I set my paths and URL's correctly, is there anything that I would need to do for any of the plugins that I install (regarding their databases) so they won't conflict with any other versions of the same plugins on each of the different sites.

eg. I want to run several sites each with individual user databases, forums, downloads, and Classifieds.

Short answer is yes and no.

Long answer is, it depends on how you set it up. For me I have one core GL (but each site has it's own config.php and each site has it's own public_html and database. It makes plugins a breeze in that once you have a plugin working on one site, all you have to do is add the files into each public_html and click install. The down side is if settings are in the core plugin then changing one changes all. Most plugins it works fine though.

I just number each config.php, config1.php, config2.php. I corrispond my database with my config. Geeklog, geeklog1. geeklog2. That way I can control each site by itself. Oh in the install.php I just manuallly make my changes for which ever config I'm dealing with. And don't forget to change lib-common.php to point to the new config#.php before install.

i take it that you are not hosting it your self
i do so i also have to deal with apache's httpd.conf

but your host will do that

What I did was to download a full backup of my main gl db. I then installed the new gl site into a sub-domain folder, created a new db for it, and restored the backup to the new db. I then changed the config file for the new site, and edited all usual files for a gl install.

After changing a few things in the admin area, everything was up and running within 15 minutes or less. Quite easy.
