C-panel has a plug in called Fantastico. If you have the latest release of Fantastico you will have GeekLog in the list for installation.
If you have to manually install it is as easy as reading the install docs and following the steps. It is really pretty easy to do.
Good Luck

cpanel installs itself in for example somedomain.com/geelog.
how do you get it to install in somedomain.com minus the directory geelog in the url using cpanel?

If you have nothing in the main page that will be overwriten just do not offer it a subfolder. It will then install itself at the root of the domain you choose.

thats odd because I can install on the root of any domain easy peasy through fantastico. Maybe it is a server option.
I'd just install manually then it is better to do that way anyhow. Easy peasy.
