I am running 1.3.8rc2 and getting ready to upgrade to 1.3.9 when it is released.
Do I need to upgrade any of my plugins?
am running
staticpages 1.3 filemgmt 1.2 stats 1.3 forum 2.2
Is it recommended that I reinstall each plugin one by one, or can I simply copy the plugins directory from the old 1.3.8 install into the new 1.3.9 install?
I wanted to be sure from the plugin authors that I was using the right versions of the plugins. is the GL release responsible for always ensuring backward compatibility with plugins?
I love geeklog and appreciate all your responsive posts, but i've found the upgrade process nerve-wracking in the past and want to make sure I don't bungle it this time. Sorry if I appeared to be a bit deaf!
The release candidates such as 1.3.9RCx are released for general user testing and for plugin developers to test their plugins.
Usually a new GL release will not break anything in a plugin but may introduce new API's and features that plugin developers will want to use.
Users can also assist plugin developers with testing their plugins. Release Candidates should normally not be used in production sites but certainly hobby sites may want to use it right away. Always have a good backup anyways on hand.
