high ISO-8859-1 character entity names?

Hi,
I am trying to write an article, in geeklog, which includes html tags, and to avoid these tags from being confused with "page related" tags i am using entity names like < etc, but after displaying the article and go back to edit mode i these entity names are changed from < to <!
Is there any way to avoid this from happening?
