I\'ve followed the instuctions and can\'t get past step one. I\'m positive there is something I\'m not doing right. So in frustrations I\'ve set the perms to 777 and more than triple checked config.php {$snip} where everything seems correct...to me. Oh and yes register_globals is on.
$snip: Then you only need to set up $_CONF[\'path_html\'] (in config.php) to point to that directory. yes yes
require_once( \'/var/www/mywebsite.com/geeklog/config.php\' );
*NOTE: yes I know you state that this shoule be seperate, but I\'ve put this here for testing.
Here is the exact error:
Fatal error: Failed opening required \'/var/www/mywebsite.com/geeklog/system/databases/mysql.class.php\' (include_path=\'.:/usr/local/lib/php\') in /mywebsite.com/geeklog/system/lib-database.php on line 110
Thanks in advance.

Yes I realize that can be an issue but it doesn\'t seem to be THE issue here. Any other suggestions?
Snip Snip
-----------------------------------------
$_CONF[\'path\'] = \'/var/www/mywebsite.com/geeklog/\'; // should end in a slash
// $_CONF[\'path_html\'] = \'/var/www/mywebsitee.com/geeklog/public_html/\';
$_CONF[\'path_html\'] = $_CONF[\'path\'] . \'public_html/\';
*NOTE: I\'ve returned this to default for better results. So everything is untar\'d in geeklog/ .
Or am I just a big dummy?

Are you sure those paths are correct? What does the install script suggest as your path?
I\'m asking because the error message that you quoted mentions a path that does not start with /var/www. One of them must be wrong ...
bye, Dirk

Hint: The complete path to this file is /someguyspage.com/geeklog/public_html/admin/install/install.php
and it appears your Path to Geeklog is /someguyspage.com/geeklog

So why not try what the install script suggests and leave the /var/www out of the paths?
bye, Dirk
