Yep! However, I built the "htmlArea Proving Grounds" to let myself (and the community at large) experiment with the editor. I have integrated it into my Geek site, but that integration is not yet optimal. It is only available to story editors and authors (a custom group).

Once things settle down, I'll post a brief tutorial and a description of the hacks required. TomW's introduction which you mention is a good starting point for anyone who is impatient

I had understood that non-supported browsers could still edit text - I thought they just didn't get all the bells and whistles. Well, I tried it with Internet Explorer 5.2.2 on Mac OS X 10.2.3, and it would not allow access to the edit function. The recent released Safari browser did work though. It seems to me that there is a large communtiy of self-titled "geeks" who don't use MIE on Windows, so you could be cutting them off from your site if they can't edit text.---Kevin

Hi Kevin,
I understand, and I also state on the information page that, although htmlArea supports the "raw" editing of html on non-supported browsers, that my proving grounds is for MSIE 5.5+ on Windows only.
Now, on my Geeklog site, where I am integrating htmlArea, the other browser support will be there. In fact, there is some automation that one can accomplish even with Netscape, which would make one's life easier. It just wouldn't be WYSIWYG.
The Proving Grounds site, as I said, is specifically for the htmlArea WYSIWYG functionality. That site is eveolving rapidly, as upon some suggestions and feedback, I am implementing a "userid" function to let brave souls more easliy rememeber and find the pages they built, and a "publish" function to let testers, if they wish, make their masterworks available for all to see. Expect the change sometime this weekend.
