Increasing number of default stories on front page?

I played around with config.php with a couple of settings I thought would allow me to increase this but no luck. How do I crank up the number of stories on the front page to let's say 25? Thanks..

config.php holds the default number of stories per page (for anonymous and new users). Each user can also set this number in his/her Display Preferences. bye, Dirk
