Just setup my first GL. runs fine, but has no localized dates. How do I have to setup the locale value for Germany on Mac OS X ?

Unfortunately, MacOS X does not support locales properly, so you can't change that there.
Btw, a Geeklog tarball pre-configured for German is available from geeklog.info.
