HELP ME NOW! (please)

I have succesfully installed geeklog on my home system (i got apache mysql php and phpmyadmin installed) To my ...horror... i found that whenever i clicked on the "new story" link then the page just seemed to refresh can someone please help me out!
Apache Version: 1.3.27
Php Version:4.2.3
Mysql Version:4.0.4
PhpMyadmin Version:2.3.2
Geeklog Version:erm the latest (1.3.7-1 i think!)
Os: Xp
A few other things dont seem to work either (edit story etc)
HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED SOON THANKS!!

I turn it on in php.ini but when im installing it tells me its still off,i thought this may have been a bug or something so i carried on installing.

Make sure that you restart the web server after turning on register_global in php.ini.

i have turned register_globals off and still when i click on a new-post link it dont work?
