It was brought to my attention by one of my users that if you set the length of time to keep a user logged in (I tested it with one month), the web site won't actually remember the user.
I set my prefs for geeklog to remeber me for one month last night before I went to bed, and when I got up this morning, I had to log back into my site.
Does this setting only work if you keep the browser window open? Could there be something wrong?

I posted this story regarding the same question. I assumed that by setting my "Remember Me" value to 1 yr, the GL cookie would be updated to not expire thus logging me into my site upon every subsequent visit.
In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?
After further review, my assumption appears to be incorrect. I’m experiencing the same behavior you described. I need to take a closer look at lib-session.
Dirk - any ideas/thoughts on this topic?

Hmm, I've set it to 1 month for me here on the site and every time I come back, it recognizes me as being logged in immediately - just as it was supposed to be.
Can this be a case of the "www vs. non-www" problem? I.e. are you calling up squatty.com or www.squatty.com?
bye, Dirk

I believe that this value gets set on the session cookie. You probably will have to log out and then back in for any changes to take effect.
Also, many browsers have a "maximum" cookie lifetime. I'm not sure what effect that may have if it is set to less than the keep-alive you specifiy for geeklog.
Hope this helps some.
