Does mediumint(8) mean only 255 users? I currently have 120 and it may be another few months til I have to worry about it, but the time will definitely come. cheers, -Alan

Sites like www.geeklog.net (almost 2600 users now) would be in deep trouble then :-) Not to mention macosxhints.com or macfixit.com ... No, the mediumint type can hold values between -8388608 and 8388607. Do you expect more than 8 million users in the near future? ;-) bye, Dirk

wonder what it is like to have -8388608 users.... that would be interesting.

Wouldn't it be nicer to use the unsigned type? UNSIGNED MEDIUMINT has a range from 0 to 16777215

The 8 in MEDIUMINT(8) is used in mysql for spacing purposes:

MEDIUMINT(M)
M Indicates the maximum display size. The maximum legal display size is 255.
