Just a check: in the Japanese language file I have, the translated text is enclosed in either single or double quotation marks (' or ". Is there a difference or can both be used interchangeably?
Single quotes will not be interpreted. Thus '$somevar' will print $somevar. Double quotes *are* interpreted so "$somevar" will print the value of $somevar. When you can, always use single quotes because it is faster. ---The reason people blame things on previous generations is that there's only one other choice.
