I've tried the "standard" [email=person@address]Email me[/email] but it just displays the code itself and not an actual link. (Just as it does here.) Am I doing something wrong? Can I even include a link to an email address in a Forum Post? I'm the webmaster of the site containing the Forum so adjusting settings is no problem if that's my culprit.
Thanks,
~Bob

The idea is that users only reveal their contact info if they want.
You'll notice in this forum that at the bottom of my reply shows info I have made public like WWW, IM, EMAIL, PM
but unless you create a special tag for [email] it won't translate.

Hiya bud, ltns.
I just figured the standard bbCode tags would work.
I'm specifically TRYING to reveal an email address. I want to post in a Forum, from the webmaster telling people to email the [email=moderator@mysite.com]Moderator[/email] to suggest new Forum Topics.
I don't care if the standard Forum Members can create that type of link, they can always post an address if they feel like it. I just want to make it as easy as possible for my viewers.
FYI Here's what I'm building:
LowerYourVoice.org[*1]
BTW back atcha... How the heck are ya? I hope things are going well.

The whole point of a forum is to provide a point to insert opinion w/out giving away personal info
Perhaps it would be better to provide a link instead.

Yeah, yeah. You know me, always wanting to do something unreasonable. I'm going to put that email link in the footer anyways. I'll just tell people to click it.
Thanks W
Had any good bourbon lately? LOL

Instead of revealing your email address to the world (bots scan websites just to find email addresses to send spam to) why don't you just create a link to your contact page. It would be something like http://loweryourvoice.org//profiles.php?uid=2
You would of course have to set the config value for "Profile Login Required" to false for this to work for anonymous users.

We also have an autotag that links to user profiles, so [ user:Laugh ] (without the spaces) comes out as
Laugh
(and, ironically, it doesn't work with user
irk because the Forum plugin seems to get there first and thinks it found a smiley)

Well duh. Both are great answers I should have been able to figure out myself.
Thanks much.
And the smiley Dirk is pretty amusing.
