My first site was build in Geeklog. I still have it but after each major upgrade, part of the sites are not working. So I have to go to default theme and customize it each time.
What is the future with Geeklog. What is bothering me is lack of plugins, and of course upgrade and admin section. Still we need to edit the congig file to set changes. when will this change?
I like geeklog is light site, and fast, becuause it is a simple CMS.
But I am bothered why is still king of outdated compared to other CMS like Drupal or Joomla.
And then there was a forum bridge. I still have one site in 141 version because of phpbb forum.
I mean this was really bad. I cant upgrade. I will not use the new simple forum.
I know Dirk is one of the hardest working people. Always anwering quiestions. Amazing.
But how many devs help Dirk?
I just want Geeklog to become some kind of competition to Drupal if possible
Thank you for your work and support Dirk

Since version 1.50 (I believe) you do not have to edit a config file, there is a config option in the admin menu.
Indeed, it's a pity that the forum is lacking so many options compared with 'real' forum scripts, and that there is no recent bridge to phpbb or similar.
A universal forumbridge could be very important to GL, and might be able to forget about the forum plugin and let users choose their own forumscript.
I think it's far too late to believe that Geeklog could be something like Drupal, the Geeklog community has lost many members and Drupal is becoming one of the most popular CMS scripts. And a large community is needed for al these nice plugins...
By the way: which idiot has put the "new topic" button next to the "new reply" button? It's not the fist time I hit the wrong button, the "new topic" button should be on another place, perhaps on top of a story, or made in a different color.

Forum development is finally picking up again, see the other thread at
http://www.geeklog.net/forum/viewtopic.php?showtopic=92381[*1]
Generally speaking, it does help not to insult people you want help from, though. The placement of the New Topic button can easily be fixed even by a novice, if you think it is such a big problem. Send patches.
bye, Dirk

Yeah, my apologies, that was a bit rude.
