I saw that there is a call to make a new design for the geeklog homepage on openhatch. So I quickly threw one together for 1.8.0hg to see what you guys would think of it. It's based on the porfessional_css theme and styled like the new version checker (It's not properly coded for the moment).
Here it is:

I like the look of it myself and it does make sense that the default theme and the version checker follow the same design.
What I hope to accomplish is to have 2 themes ship with future versions of Geeklog.
Theme #1
- It is a simple and clean theme that is ideal for theme makers to use as a starting point when designing their own themes.
- It will use CSS instead of tables where appropriate (unlike the current default theme).
Theme #2
- The theme Geeklog.net uses.
- It will be more complex and it will demonstrate what can be accomplished with the Geeklog template engine.

I like this theme.
I am sure Phize, a author in Japan, of professional_CSS theme will be happy.

I like it, can we share it?

@Gape:
I think you're right, the search bar is too big. I found that Geeklog's search function is not one of the best, so that's a good reason to keep that area small

Sure, we can share. If you really want a copy now, I can upload one for you. But really, I haven't followed any best practices while working on it and so the code is bit ugly. The idea is just to get some feedback on the appearance, so that if enough people like it, I'll recode it properly
