Hi guys,
I've downloaded the installpackage from geeklog.net unrarred it and then uploaded on to my hostingv via ftp
but when i want to go to my install page in the public_html directory I always get this Error
Text Formatted Code
Unfortunately, an error has occurred rendering this page. Please try again later.
so I can't install geeklog 'manually' on my hosting
i can install it via fantastico, but then i has to be in a directory that doesn't exist (and thats for my no solution!)
can anyone help me out?
thanks in advance!

Hi Keepertje,
You need to provide a little more info. What version package did you install? Did you create the MySql DB required, and test the user? What URL were you going to when you get the error?

You do have to create an empty database before installation, you can name it whatever you want, the installer will ask you it's name, username and password.

i've read it!
the db-config.php file is in the main directory
the same where i uploaded the files from 'public_html'
then how do have to call that main directory?
my hosting:
public_html/mvcbrugsezot.be/db-config.php
public_html (where I upload all my stuff)
mvcbrugsezot.be/ (the directory for the site)
==> and in mvcbrugsezot.be/ i've uploaded the db-config.php file
then should i tell geeklog its in: /db-config.php or in public_html/mvcbrugsezot/db-config.php or ...
i've tried them all but none of them work...
(and sorry if i'm annoying to u, normally i don't need any help to install things on my hosting!)
and really thank you for helping me out!

You're putting too many files in a public directory. All files should be in something like:
/username/domains/domains/mvcbrugsezot.be/*geeklog files*
Then config file should be located like this:
/username/domains/domains/mvcbrugsezot.be/db-config.php
The public files should be in your public www or htdocs directory, which I'm calling public_html like Geeklog does:
/username/domains/domains/mvcbrugsezot.be/public_html/
I think now you've put everything in a public directory, which is bloody dangerous for the security of your site. You have to put them a level up/higher, above the public docs, if your hosting accounts allows you.

i've made a subdomain
http://mvcbrugsezot.gregory.jixhost.com[*3]
so
http://mvcbrugsezot.gregory.jixhost.com/admin/install/index.php
and the db-config.php file is at
http://mvcbrugsezot.gregory.jixhost.com/db-config.php
what should i tell gl so he finds the db-config.php file?

Please, first learn something about server pathes, you're making things way more difficult than they should be:
http://www.ibdhost.com/help/path/[*4] (read the part about Absolute vs. Relative Server Paths)
