A story was posted on my site at 12:34 afternoon local time. It is now 11:15 in the night.
when run these titles in google i am able to see the link of news aggregators which feed off mysite.
Where as the orignal links are not there.
Despite turmoil, Pakistan pips rival India
http://tazakino.com/article.php/2008091300344163
another story is
Mercury Reaches degree 42.1 Celsius
http://tazakino.com/article.php/2008091300535743
Interestingly i also noticed the following
Where YOU Report The News - Taza Kino
Mercury Reaches degree 42.1 Celsius. Saturday, September 13 2008 @ 12:53 AM GMT+6. Contributed by: karachiwala. Views: 10 ...
tazakino.com/ - Similar pages
So google is definitely visiting the site it for some reason is not picking the correct URL on time.
By the time you see this post these links will be indexed for sure.
My questions is what can i do to improve on this.
lets talk guys!

Hi,
Seems to be on google.com.pk
Strange when I made a search with "Mercury Reaches degree 42.1 Celsius" there is teabreak and geeklog pages as results. and your page is only on a search with "Mercury Reaches degree 42.1 Celsius" takazino.com
Anyway 42.1 Celsius is 107.78 Fahrenheit... Hot.

It happens quite often, that news aggregrators score better than the aggregrated sites. But it's also a signal that your SERP's aren't good enough yet...
You also must admit that a three short sentences long story called "Mercury Reaches degree 42.1 Celsius" doesn't have very much unique content/keywords, the keywords you used are also quite common. Google won't bother to index such a small and ignorent story as a seperate page.
Teabreak is a news aggregrator with only short stories/quotes, so, since all the stories on Teabreak are small like any other news aggregrator, Google will index it like the other short stories/quotes on that site, without seeing that the original story is short as well (Google likes news-aggregrators anyway....).
You said it yourself in an earlier forum topic: Content is King. That also means that your content should stand out like a real king: distinguishing, unique and attractive. If you site is SEO-average, it will succeed if your content is better than average. Most large newspaper sites ain't really seo-friendly as well...
Write unique and attractive stories, with an unique title and story-id containing unique and attractive keywords, learn about LSI, make the stories long enough, use seo-friendly story-id's, etc etc. You must see it as a challenge to make each story a killer story, so even if it's a common subject like "Mercury Reaches degree 42.1 Celsius" it must be attractive to read, and the title must attract the reader to read the full story. If the visitors like your site, which means your content is good enough, you 'll get enough traffic and links from weblogs and social media. Google will notice that, and will love your site too. It's better to write one killer story each day, than writing a dozen small and ignorent stories.
The fastest way to speed up the visits to your site, if your site is about common subjects like your site, is to get listed on news-aggregrators and Google News, so use RSS-feeds, make a Google sitemap, make your stories and layout "Google News-friendly" and submit your site tom Google News.
So just be patient, write killer stories for a while (and I mean months!), and you will succeed! If you don't have the time or skills to make unique content, you better start a news aggregrator...
I started a newsportal about camping gear in a small country, sold that site 4 years later to a big publisher for $$$$$ and work as content manager (and pro-blogger) for that company now, so I know you can succeed if you write unique content and be patient.

Not that I'm aware of. Wouldn't work anyway, since you have to skip some useless words manually in the ID. It's a very small effort to edit the ID while writing a story, right?

not really from user stand point. I think unless people are dead focused they will forget to change it.
So it would be nice to have some to generate the id automatically and same as title say my-title-id
or some thing like that.

Geeklog doesn't put articles inside topic directories like the url you mentioned, so why bother? Putting articles inside topic directories is one of the most popular causes of getting duplicate content. So you stories in Geeklog wil always have a unique url like myhost.com/article.php/my-title

Does geeklog have function to make avtomatic ID form article title? Maybe to svvich something to config.php?
Example:
if i have a title od story: Welcome to Geeklog
when i open a new stori i got ID something like that 20090117020855323
and url http://www.geeklog.net/article.php/20090117020855323
But position in google are realy beter if the title is http://www.geeklog.net/article.php/Welcom-to-Geeklog
Yes i know, we can change a ID, but i like to know is there option for avtomatic change.
and i found also the google have bether find for a print link's
Example:
http://www.geeklog.net/article.php/Welcom-to-Geeklog/print,
but there is a litle problem because visitors dont like that sorts of page, so maybe we should give heder in that sort of article also.

Hello,
Would it be difficult to implement it?
Does a plugin can modify the way another plugin work or can a plugin extend another? If yes, where can we found a exemple?

1) automatic ID: for SEO purposes you better edit the ID yourself, that way you can only use the keywords you really need, plus a unique number in case your site is indexed by Google News
2 use the robots.txt to stop Google spidering and indexing the /print pages

In theory at least, the PLG_itemSaved function could be used by a plugin to automatically change the id of a story to something derived from the story title. Haven't tried that - it's possible that this would cause errors as some code that's run after the save will probably still use the old id ...
As beewee said, it's probably better when a human makes the change. Some JavaScript code that updates the story id while you're typing the title may be a way.
Also, the /print links already have a rel="nofollow" attribute in 1.5.

And what about url rewrite. Maybe it would be easier to derivate the url from the title? A new function like buildURL in classes/url.class.php...

The current url, /article.php/story-ID, is sufficient. My stories are indexed fine that way. It's still the way you write the content (and the title!!) , and proper linkbuilding, that makes the difference, not finetuning the url.

Some JavaScript code that updates the story id while you're typing the title may be a way.
I will work more on this sooner. Start is here:
Text Formatted Code
<form name="frm" action="">
<input type="text" name="original" onkeyup="this.form.copy.value=this.value.replace(/ /g,'-');">
<input type="text" name="copy">
<input type="submit" value="Submit" />
</form>

A quick hack
To auto update story id when writing the title story: Edit storyeditor_advanced.thtml and change line 28
Text Formatted Code
<td><input type="text" size="48" maxlength="128" name="title" value="{story_title}"{xhtml}></td>
to
Text Formatted Code
<td><input type="text" size="48" maxlength="128" name="title" value="{story_title}" onkeyup="this.form.sid.value=this.value.replace(/ /g,'-');"{xhtml}></td>
