Guys
If content is king then the search engines must be king makers.
I have been talking to a few friends about the response of search engines to GL. I would like your feedback and solutions.
tazakino dot com (GL)
onlygizmos dot com (GL)
iphonehelp dot in (WP)
annkur dot com (wp)
Result is the WP based sites get alot of hits, GL based sites get half as many.
Is there any real technical difference in architecture of both products to do this or am i mistaken. From a geeky point of view the SEO may not matter but from my users point of view it makes all the difference.
Need your feedback.

Well, you can make a hell of a site with Notepad, and a pain in the ass with the best CMS available....
In this case, it's not all about the right content or the CMS, but in the URL and site names. The 2 last sites you mentioned do have an appropiate URL and an appropiate site name+slogan.
The URL of the Iphone site is of course much better targetted towards this nice niche than Taza Kino which is a common news site. Onlygizmos should be targetted much better to the 'gadget' niche and needs a decent theme (try dkblog on the demo site, that's quite easy to adapt).
The Wordpress sites also have edited their story-ID's, example: your story ID is /article.php/20080827053841871, it should be /article.php/rivals-of-zardari-and-nawaz.
It's not only the CMS, the looks, the URL, the content or the audience, but the way everything fits together and is written towards audience and search engines. Have a look at some SEO sites!

here is test case
the following URL is feeding of my site but when u google this you are able to find it.
http://teabreak.pk/mystery-chinese-iphone-worker-becomes-internet-star-133/5981/
the following URL is the actual URL on my site. It has been 5 hours and no clue if it will get indexed.
http://tazakino.com/article.php/Mystery-Chinese-iPhone-Worker-Becomes-In
So what is happening here?

It is there now. The PR of those 2 sites are different as well so you have more backlinks, etc.. with teabreak.

Dear, PR is not the factor here
See OnlyGizmos (OG) and iPhonehelp (IP)
OG has PR3 and good backlinks
IP has nothing and PR1
Still anything on IP gets indexed in 20mins and OG takes days (upto a week or more)
For test setup two fresh sites one with GL and one with WP and run a test.. you will see what I meant... If required I can do that setup, I have spare domains with hosting lying idle

You're (http://TazaKino.com) having lots of inappropiate backlinks, to www. and non-www pages, to url_reritten url's and non rewritten url's, lot's of comment spam-links with non-follow (=useless) links, even on x-rated sites, etc etc.
I wouldn't index your site if I was a search engine...
BTW teabreak.pk has lot's of new stories each day, so the Google bot will visit teabreak.pk more often. Like you said: content is king....
And how do you expect Google to index a story of 37(!) words???

Also are you saying that having a RSS harvester so speak or a news aggregation is the best way to go up in the charts (if that is the goal)

The major factor in search engine ranking is unique content and backlinks from popular related sites. The link text of these back links also play a role.
Secondary factors include things like descriptive page titles and keywords in urls.
Use Google webmaster tools and see what keywords google has found for your site and where your backlinks are coming from.
If you write good content that is useful then people will link to it. This takes time but should pay off in the long run.

is there a way or hack available to convert id to title as oppose to doing by hand?
I mean converting story ID to textual string id

No, but it's always better to do this by hand, since you can put the important keywords in your story ID this way.
Google prefers url's like:
/article.php/women-crashed-car-highway-boston
instead of:
/article.php/24-year-old-women-from-connecticut-crashed-with-her-brand-new-japanese-car-on-the-highway-near-boston-while-using-her-husbands-cellphone....
