guys
i have a typical situation here.
I want my users to be able to select photos by using media browser.
But i want to do this in Plain Text. (without using advanced Editor)
Reason is, this mode give my user two boxes INTRO and BODY.
The down side is it takes way their ability to add photos.
Which is critical for my site.
So how can i get INTRO and BODY boxes and at same time have some easy way to browse photos in media gallery.??

Images would be in html, so they won't work with plain text.
There is no mixed-mode.

In
glFusion[*1] , we've added the additional BODY input box for regular user submitted stories. This might help solve your dilemma.
Thx!

geiss:
i have looked at glFussion. and i like it.
I just have fear. Recently i upgraded to GL1.5.0 and it has caused me some sleepless nights. It is only now that the site is working properly after the upgrade from 1.4.1
My 2nd concern is would it wise to jump to glfussion at this stage, in terms of having a mass following etc etc.
May be you could give me a few pointer by which i could add the body box as done in glfussion. I mix a bit of code here and there and may be will live happy ever after

If you are currently running Geeklog v1.5, then you shouldn't have any issues with glFusion since they are database compatible. If you want to switch back to vanilla Geeklog after trying glFusion, you could.

Again, it's not like you would be "leaving" Geeklog behind. The community that drives Geeklog is the same community behind glFusion. We're not here to compete, but rather to collaborate!

I bet if you
contact Mark[*2] , or post this question in the
gl Labs forums[*3] , you'd find what you're looking for. Unfortunately, I focus mainly on theme, UI, and idea development and am not that well versed in those particular code enhancements.
Hope this helps!
Eric

To quote Goethe:
Die Botschaft hör ich wohl,
allein mir fehlt der Glaube.
Why not call it what it is? glFusion is a fork of Geeklog.

Actually, there is at least one db incompatibility between the two already. It should be easy to fix, but you can't just switch back and forth at random.

You say that like it's a dirty word or something. I'm not going to argue semantics here. Eric and Mark call glFusion a bundling with minor enhancements. You call it a fork. The terminology doesn't matter.
You are also implying that Eric is being false in his desire to collaborate. Forking OSS projects has a history of producing better code in both forks and code can always travel between forks especially when the goal of the fork is compatibility.

Really? I'm sure Mark didn't intend to make any incompatibility. What is different?

I don't have a problem with Eric. But looking over the glFusion SVN repository, someone there seems to have a rather odd idea of collaboration.

I'm talking about the gl_syndication 'type' field. Apparently, that has been changed to 'glfusion' for the feeds where Geeklog uses 'geeklog'.
