:helpme:
Hi, I'm new to Geeklog - I've been asked to install it by someone, and am doing OK, configuring it, etc......BUT just cannot seem to get my head around plug-in installation. Although I'm impressed so far with GL, I'm much more comfortable with PN and the module installation simplicity (by comparison)
I've got a time frame on this, so would anyone be willing to install plug-ins for me? I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount for this.Got about 6 that need doing, but will discuss further if anyone is interested.
What I'v got so far can be seen at http://www.broodmares4sale.co.uk/community/
 Many thanks

One at time and always ensure the last plugin is working before adding the next one.

For most plugins (take captcha for example) you need to create 3 separate folders called captcha (or what ever the plugin is called). The first folder is placed in the plugins directory (which is in the root of your website). In this folder unzip the contents of the plugin).
website/plugins/captcha/
The second CAPTCHA folder you place in the public_html folder which is also in the root of your website. Then from where you unzipped the plugin, take the contents of the public_html folder and place it in your new folder you just created here:
website/public_html/captcha/
The third CAPTCHA folder you will place under the website/public_html/admin/plugins/ folder. Then from where you unzipped the plugin, take the contents of the admin folder place it in your new folder you just created here:
website/public_html/admin/plugins/captcha/
Once the directories are setup you can then use your favorite web browser and log into your Geeklog site. From there click the plugins link in the Admin Block. On the plugins page you will notice at the bottom of the table the option to install the new CAPTCHA plugin. Click install. Once installed your should have a new link in the Admin Block called CAPTCHA. From there you can setup your site to use the plugin.
Most plugins install pretty much the same way. The forum and Media Gallery are slightly different so try the smaller plugins first. Flash Chat is not a Geeklog plugin but can use the user table of Geeklog. It has it's own install script and admin interface.
