After many hours and weeks of effort, a new updated version (1.5) of this popular plugin has been released and available on geeklog.net and www.portalparts.com. Please use this forum for discussion and comments.

We are now running this version on both sites - so comments are now working

Thanks Blaine!

If you would be so kind, I would like to request the following features:

1) autotag and autolink
2) being able to disable comment
3) being able to disable rating

#2 and 3 are not so important, but #1 would be very wonderful.

------------------

There is a missing closing quote on line 12 of the filelisting_record.thtml

 <a href="{site_url}/filemgmt/visit.php?lid={lid}"

That's the reason why the filemgmt here and also on PortalParts.com don't have the download.gif icon before the file title.

More bugs

By: samstone

Can't load category snaps. It doesn't go the the category_snaps folder, even thought the script shows successful creation of the category. The folder is 777. The snap is shown blank with the red X on the download page.

When trying to add a category snap on a previously created category with no snap, the script shows no error, but not snap was uploaded and not even the bank snap was shown on the download page.

Thanks for the update!

  1. Now...first of all, if I dissallow guest access, they still see items in what's new!
    Updated: fixed in v1.5.1.

  2. Speaking of v1.4, if it's mandatory, how come the plugin editor lists 1.5/1.3.6...?
    Updated: fixed in v1.5.1.

  3. Lastly, good job on the automated paths in filemgmt.php.
    However, those of them that aren't URLs are wrong!

    They are built (at least in essence) as $_CONF['path_html'] . '/' . 'filemgmt_data/X/";
    That meams an extra '/'!
    e.g. $filemgmt_FileStore = "/var/www/html//filemgmt_data/files/";

    But the biggest problem - and this may solve samstone's problem! - is $filemgmt_SnapCat. It misses a trailing slash!
    e.g. $filemgmt_SnapCat = ".../category_snaps";
    instead of .../category_snaps/";
    Updated: fixed in v1.5.1.

Sorry everyone, filemgmt is finally register_long_arrays free, but still not register_globals free. For example, it keeps using $REMOTE_ADDR.

Also, pop.gif is still not ok - it has an extra ".
It's in public_html/include/functions.php :
$functionretval = " " . "" >';
Note the '"' in the end.
Either add an opening " or remove the closing one.
Updated: fixed in v1.5.1.

In addition, "more ..." is still hardcoded - this time in public_html/index.php .
Updated: fixed in v1.5.1.

And I see comments still can't be deleted (I recommend everyone to delete them via Spam-X - it's the best way).
Updated: fixed in v1.5.2.

The new version doesn't use singlefile.php any more, so if you still have some links pointing to that file, you'll either end up with a 404 or a "call to undefined function" error if you left the old file in place.

Here's a simple fix. Upload this as your new singlefile.php:
<?php

require_once ('../lib-common.php');

if (isset ($_GET['lid'])) {
    echo COM_refresh ($_CONF['site_url'] . '/filemgmt/index.php?id=' . $_GET['lid']);
} else {
    echo COM_refresh ($_CONF['site_url'] . '/filemgmt/index.php');
}

?>

The same could also be accomplished with a mod_rewrite rule in your .htaccess but I wasn't too sure of the exact syntax and didn't want to try it out "live" here on the site ...

bye, Dirk

The bugs reported above are easy and simple fixes, so for the time being, just correct the files as mentioned by LWC, Dirk, and me.

samstone, filemgmt.php turns manual once you install the plugin anyway, so you might as well don't wait and just fix it already yourself (the slashes I mean - especially the missing one). You can also access these settings through the admin's config (you can recognize them as the settings that are hardcoded in English...:-).

LWC, you think I will wait for the release to fix something that is fixable?

I was just answering lokki's question. That fact that he is asking whether those bugs are real and ask for correction means he might not know enough to fix it himself. So that's why I ask him to wait for the bug fix release.

BTW, thanks for pointing out the paths. I guess I was too lazy to look at those paths in detail, seeing that they are pointing to my site folders. Yes they were all fixed the moment you posted it yesterday morning.

Thanks very much for the feedback and noted items to address. Nothing critical and as noted, we are using this version here on geeklog.net and portalparts.com. I hope to have time over the next few days to review/address but would like to wait and see if there are any more issues reported.

I've also not seen an issue using basic html in comments but really had never seen much of a use so had not really exercised the comment feature with HTML. Just did a few more tests and saw no issues on my test instance - certainly no JS Error.

You're right, I've removed my comments about the comments (no pun intended). It was a Fckeditor issue. The onload javascript event it uses is disabled by my software unless I know in advance to bypass it.

I can't think of any more bugs except hardcoded language (like my hints above).

LWC,

A little digression, since you mentioned FCKeditor. Have you tried FCKeditor 2.2 yet. It runs much smoother. I've never had JS error ever since I upgraded it. It works well with Blaine's original GL integration, with very little or no tweeks, that I remember.

Thanks very much for your testing and feedback. I've released version 1.5.1 which should address the noted items. I also have added the autotag feature.

For reference, this is the comment I've added to the download.

samstone, I didn't know it was up to me...how can I upgrade without Geeklog upgrading it? It's a special version for Geeklog after all.
How do I even check what's my fckeditor's version? fckeditor/_whatsnew.html reports 2.1.1 but why should I trust an independent text file?

Blaine, wow - that was a quick update! As you can see above, I've confirmed most of the bugs (that I brought up) were indeed fixed.

Filemgmt Plugin Version 1.5

By: samstone

Thanks for the quick release, Blaine.

LWC, Blaine's GL_FCKeditor integration is quite independent from the FCKeditor's core codes. All you need is to drop in the new version and change the fckconfig.js file to match the toolbars request by the java scripts in the public_html/javascipt folder; or you can look at the old fckconfig.js to create those toolbars in the new fckconfig.js.

The version came with GL1.4 is 2.1.1. If you click on the ? (help) button it will tell you everything about the version, and also remind you for a donation.

I am much less a programmer than you are, so if I could do it, that must be something really simple. And the fact that I have no notes means I didn't have to do any serious changes, except the configuration.

Why don't you try it. I started by changing the FCKeditor directory to something like fckeditor_old, then load the new version and tested it, so that I could reverse back if it didn't work. Now, since it works, I have already deleted the old version.

I upgraded to 1.5 and received the "upgrade successful" message - however, whenever I try to modify a category or whenever I click on the File Download link in the menu bar - I receive the following error:

Ok - I see the problem. I had added a upgrade test for version 1.5 to 1.5.1 which was just to update the version code but in doing so broke the upgrade from the earlier version.

I will take a look and see if I can make a quick change to correct that - otherwise - change the version in the plugins/filemgmt/config.php to 1.5 and that should trigger the needed sql update.

$CONF_FM['version'] = '1.5';

Ok - I did that - but it doesn't seem to trigger anything? I went to the plugin admin... and it shows that there is a Code: 1.5 Update! However, clicking on the edit button does not give me the "update" option like before. I can just save or delete.

What do I need to do from here?

I don't have more time to look at this now - you may need to change the pi_version in the plugins record back to 1.3 or 1.4 - some number less then 1.5 as the plugin editor likely does not see a need to enable the update.

Thanks - I changed the pi_version number to 1.3 - ran the update and so far it sees to be working... I'll let you know if I find anything else.

Thanks for your help and awesome work!

I do have another question about this though...

I am wanting to restrict access to the downloadable files. However, just changing the category to allow that group to download the file is not enough. I actually only want certain groups to be able to see a listing of files available to their specific group.

But in the Menu whenever you click on the "My Downloads" the index shows every uploaded file - instead of just the files available to that specific group.

Does this make sense?

It looks like at this point unless there is something that I am not seeing - I will need to remove the "My Downloads" link from the top nav - and set up links through the blocks to restrict access and only show files available to respective groups?

Does that sound correct?

I also don't have enough time to answer your questons. Please do a search on the forum, and FAQ to learn how to remove the plugin links from the navigation bar. That's a basic knowledge of Geeklog and it's well documented. Tip: it's in the header.thtml.

With version 1.5, you can restrict access by category. For each category you can allow all users, logged in users, or by group. If I understand you correctly, that's where you should setup permissions. Give a documentation a read and you will find how to use those features.

I have updated the archive so the update will work correctly if you have version 1.3 or 1.5 installed. The new filename is filemgmt_1.5.1b_1.4.zip

The built-in update feature will now update correctly from version 1.3 and 1.5 (released a few days ago).

I have a problem. I have a category "Movies" and under it a subcategory "Fiction". When I hit Fiction, I see a page which lists some of the fiction movies (url like "..../filemgmt/viewcat.php?cid=33"). And at the end there are links to next and last page. But both of them lead not to smth like ".../filemgmt/viewcat.php?cid=33&page=2" but to ".../filemgmt/index.php?page=2". So when I want to view second(or last as I have two of them) page of my fiction movies, I get a second page of 'all files' listing.

It doesn't take long to upgrade it twice. If you know how to fix it and have a backup, go directly with 1.5.

Since i'm using MySQL 5.0.18 & i have the same problem with you it's just that i have v1.3 installed & i just need to upgrade & the upgrading works great. You can fix the problem by modifying file index.php.

1. find a line:
        $sql .= "date, hits, rating, votes, comments, description, grp_access FROM {$_FM_TABLES['filemgmt_filedetail']} d, ";

replace with:
        $sql .= "date, hits, rating, votes, comments, description, grp_access FROM ({$_FM_TABLES['filemgmt_filedetail']} d, ";

2. find another line:
        $sql .= "{$_FM_TABLES['filemgmt_filedesc']} t LEFT JOIN {$_FM_TABLES['filemgmt_cat']} c ON d.cid=c.cid ";

and replace with:
        $sql .= "{$_FM_TABLES['filemgmt_filedesc']} t) LEFT JOIN {$_FM_TABLES['filemgmt_cat']} c ON d.cid=c.cid ";

P/S: maybe Blaine should try to install mysql5 for testing purpose.

I just uploaded an update - version 1.5.2

Bug Fix: Search function should not return any files that have not been approved
Bug Fix: Corrected autotag link feature
Bug Fix: Wrong error code being passed to error handler if new file submission is a duplicate file
If user has filemgmt.edit right, show the delete comment feature
Added test for file id is not a new (un-approved) file in main index.php
tweaked the errorhandler display

Changed files include several files in the public_html directory as well as the plugins functions.inc file. Best to replace all files. Run the plugin upgrade from the plugin editor listing to update the plugin version - no database changes.

Thanks, comments really can be deleted now!

However, $REMOTE_ADDR is still used in admin/install.php
Of course, I haven't really looked for other outdated parameters that may be out there.

And although "more" is finallly not hardcoded (since v1.5.1), other strings still are (like the ones that define the paths).

Figured out!

Change the following codes arround line 788 in functions.inc

$url = COM_buildUrl ($_CONF['site_url'] . '/filemgmt/index.php?id='  . $file_id);

to

$url = $_CONF['site_url'] . '/filemgmt/index.php?id=' . $file_id;

The idea is to remove the "Com_buildUrl" so that it will bypass the url rewrite, so you also need to remove the parantheses because it is nolonger necessary.

I changed it to the following because I want the file to start downloading when clicked, instead of going through another step, which would often confuse the user if they are not familier with the filemgmt:

$url = $_CONF['site_url'] . '/filemgmt/visit.php?lid=' . $file_id;

Running Geeklog 1.40 latest edition. I have only 2 plugins installed that were not installed with Geeklog. Phpbb birdge, and GUS.

After placing all the files correctly into their directories, I login as admin, then go to plugins, I see the plugin, click install, no page loads.

This url appears at the top http://www.3dge-systems.com/admin/plugins/filemgmt/install.php?action=install

I do not even get an error, the page just comes up blank, all white. Please help.

Filemgmt Plugin Version 1.5

I recently began using Geeklog and love it. I installed filemgmt 1.5.2 and everything was working without any problems. However when I tried to upload a file I got this:

File Management Plugin Error Code: 1017
ERROR: The file was not uploaded. Check permissions or duplicate file.

Now I know the permissions are correct, all the folders were the files are stored are CHMODed to 777. Also I've already configured the paths to the correct place in my directory. I know it's not a duplicate; I'm on FTP and can't see a duplicate. I also tried uploading a small random file about 2kb and it uploaded properly. So this leads me to a conclusion. You can't upload large files. The file i ran into problems was about 3.4mb in size. I was looking through most of the files in filemgmt and didn't see anything to refer to a limit on file size. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Drake250.

You upload files size is limited by php.ini. I hope you have access to php.ini, or you have to ask your hosting company to do it for you. If you need more information, search for the threads both here in this forum and in www.PortalParts.com.

Sam

Thanks!

Thank you very much Sam. I found out how to edit the php.ini from there. For anyone else confonting this problem just do this:

Create a php.ini file that says this:

register_globals = On
memory_limit = 100M
upload_max_filesize = 100M
post_max_size = 100M
max_execution_time = 1800

Now upload this file in your /public_html/admin/plugins/filemgmt directory as well as your /public_html/filemgmt/ directory.

I found this info on this topic.

Hi,

I was wondering... How can the "glmenu integration" be done? Is "glmenu" same as the good ol' "menu plugin"?

I've visited portalparts.com and that's exactly what I want to do: placing a downloads "section" under menu and showing categories/subcategories from there.

Thanks!

glMenu is one of Blaine's plugins. Visit portalparts.com again and you'll see it there.

I've thrown togehter a patch for 1.5.2 that allows users/groups a new right that allows them to upload files without need for an administrator to accept the upload.
