Hello,
I'm trying to migrate my geeklog from a Mac to a Enterprise Linux machine....
and I thought I should upgrade whilst doing that...
The Mac is running 1.3.7sr1 and I just installed 1.4.0rc1 on the LinuxBox.
I loaded the database into the LinuxBox with this...
% mysql -u root -p -D geeklog < /tmp/geeklog_db_backup_2006_01_13.sql
... and when I run /admin/install/install.php I get this error...
1060: Duplicate column name 'is_default'
... Any ideas? I read about a couple other examples of this error coming up...
but they didn't seem to pertain to this problem...
Thanks,
M@

Are you sure you are doing an update vs a new install?

Yep, very sure. If I do new install... I get a clean, fresh database.
But when drop that database, import my 1.3.7sr1 database and choose update I get this error...
1060: Duplicate column name 'is_default'
I guess I will start trying to backward engineer how the install.php works...
see if I can get some more verbose error info...

The field 'is_default' (in the gl_topics table) was introduced in 1.3.8, so if you're on 1.3.7, you shouldn't have it.
bye, Dirk

Yeah, I tried an update once... but it didn't work 100%, so I thought I would wait until I moved from OSX to Linux and try the update then (which is now now... )

Yeah, that's true... I think I might have updated this database in the past... then restored to a backup... that would probably leave unused tables behind?
I just tried the upgrade again, except I picked 1.3.8 (which I think I tried updating to in the past)... and it worked! Kinda.... I was redirected to success.php... but it was blank... now I when I go to the main page (index.php) that's blank also... and returning to "admin/install/install.php", step 2of2 says "Database already up to date!" ... which would be good, if those pages weren't blank....
Ok, I just checked my apache error_log and it's giving me these errors...
[client 216.73.248.83] PHP Warning: main(/var/www/html/geeklog/plugins/stats/functions.inc): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/html/geeklog-1.4.0rc1/public_html/lib-common.php on line 5620
[client 216.73.248.83] PHP Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required '/var/www/html/geeklog/plugins/stats/functions.inc' (include_path='/var/www/html/geeklog/system/pear/:.:/usr/share/pear') in /var/www/html/geeklog-1.4.0rc1/public_html/lib-common.php on line 5620
... which all sounds like a missing stats plugin.... I guess I will try installing the stats plugin now and see if that clears it up...
Thanks. And sorry about the mess.
