Ok from what I can tell, the remote autherntication php file just needs to return a true and that person is in. If that person has a geeklog ID and it is the same as the remote authentication id, will they pick-up the groups checked for the geeklog ID?

Actually, when a remotely authenticated user logs into the site for the first time, a new local account is created for them. But it should also be possible to change an existing account into a remote user's account.
For details, try asking Mike.

Thanks Dirk...I'm not quite up to speed on the in's and outs of LDAP and remote auth for geeklog. I plan on looking further into it when I get the time, but feel free to jump in there anytime.
