We launched /FILM (
here[*1] ) on September 1st 2005, and two months later we're getting 100,000 readers a month (Are there any bigger geeklog sites out there???). The site covers movie news and reviews, employs a staff of about 20 writers, and uses a modified Axon Project_XU1 theme.
The Tech stuff: The geeklog script itself has been modified heavily to accomidate new features such as our movie showtime search, top 15 most read posts of the month, our last 30 days blogger list, in addition to the many advertisements introduced into the layout (some of which required modification of our index.php and lib-story.php files).

We added a right side bar, we've created a header logo system which switches throguh about 200 different images with different movie quotes. We updated the png files so that they looked good in IE. The way the theme was set up, the transparencies didn't work in IE. I guess "very modified" is a bit of an exageration, but we put a lot of work into modifying the files (it seems like much more work than the sentence or two above gives the impression).
