It never fails, once something is released, the obvious errors show up. There were a couple of show stoppers in the 0.82 release that caused Media Gallery to not work on some systems.
This release is available at
My Download Section at www.ecsnet.org.
Fixes
- If Geeklog was not in the webroot, many of the Admin links did not work.
- If exif support was not compiled into PHP, uploads would fail with no errors, just a blank, white screen.
- Added a small amount of diagnostics to the configuration screen. Media Gallery will now warn you if it cannot find the required external utilities.
Please post your successes and failures so I can get a feel for how well it is or isn't working.
Thanks!
Mark

Tommy,
Glad that got you working! I have another update available that fixes a few other bugs and also added permission checking to let you know if there is a problem with the directories that Media Gallery needs to write to. It will be available here shorty and is always availble at
Download Section at www.ecsnet.org.
I'll work on the WMV stuff this evening, hopefully I can find the problem. Do you get any errors in the log files or any feedback that will help me find the problem?
Thanks!
Mark

There is a new release available (v0.84) that fixes several bugs with video formats and also adds support for Quicktime movies and MP3 file formats.
The latest release is always available at My Geeklog Software Downloads[*1] at http://www.ecsnet.org.
Please let me know if you have any problems or issues.
Thanks and enjoy!

Yes, I see where I have some MySQL version issues on the install. You can easily fix this in the /public_html/admin/plugins/mediagallery/install.php file. On line 150 and 158 change the word ENGINE to TYPE and that should get you going. I'll update the source tree for the next release.
Thanks!

Hey, I installed that latest release and it works like charm Than I found a language file and started to translate it to german, but..... a lot of the text is hard coded, right?
Bad boy
But the mediagallery looks verry promising keep on the work
Oh, another wish: It would be nice if MG could use a different time format than the geeklog site, because I use the longest dateformat for the site, but that doesn't look good in the gallery.
geKow
edit: I just noticed, that it uses different time formats in album and image view. The sites format in album view and a shorter (am/pm) one in image view.

Yes, I know, bad boy! Actually, that is next on my list and I'll be starting tonight to move everything out into the language file.

Actually, that is very easy to add. I'll put it on the list. But, before any new features are bug fixes and language file work!
Thanks!

I noticed that when I go to the configuration menu, or try to upload new media I get the following error:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare mg_siteheader() (previously declared in crogram FilesApache GroupApache2htdocsgeeklogpublic_htmlmediagallerymg_common.php:16) in Crogram FilesApache GroupApache2htdocsgeeklogpublic_htmlmediagallerymg_common.php on line 31
Any Ideas?

Rob,
It looks like I have it setup so that mg_common.php is included more than once on 3 files. You can edit these files and simply comment out the line that reads
require_once('../../../mediagallery/mg_common.php');. The files are all in the admin/plugins/mediagallery/admin directory and they are:
- mg_config.php
- mg_media_rotate.php
- mg_upload.php
Thanks for catching and reporting this one, I'll get it fixed in the next release.
Thanks!

Great Work.
I like your MG over Gallery.
I do have a few request:
1. Add the ability to upload zipped or rarred files and have MG unzip or unrar them into the album of choice. I have all of my pictures zipped for back ups and it would make it easier to upload them if this option was available vs the ftp upload option.
2. A Sort feature for the albums. The pictures are sortable inside the album but we have to click the Move Down or Move Up button numerous times to get a album where we want it.
So far the only thing I have notice that might be or might not be a bug is after you create an album and return to the admin page if you hit refresh it creates the album a second time. This might be a problem with Firefox, I have not tested it on IE.
Again these are request that I find useful for me, if you dont implament them I understand.
Keep up the great work !!!

I like the plugin very much however I am wondering why other non root users do not seem to have access to the albums even if I specify this in the configuration section. Feature not built in yet?

Let me make sure I understand the problem, it sounds like only Root users can access the albums? There are two places where you set the access to your albums.
In Media Gallery configuration, you choose whether or not to let non-logged in (anonymous) users have access.
Second, in each album, you specify the access rights for that album, just like you would for a Geeklog topic or story.
So, let's make sure that you have the global configuration set how you want it, allow logged-in users only, or anyone access. Second, let's look at the albums (album edit) and make sure you have the permissions set so that Members have read access and if you desire, that anonymous users have read access.
If everything is setup properly and you are still having the problem, I might get you to shoot me some screen captures to help locate the problem.
Thanks!

Thanks for your reply Mark. I have carefully read and reread your post and it seems as if I did everything you suggest here. All I can think of is that perhaps I am missing the location of the menu-item that allow users to upload media. If I open an album logged in as a ordinary user I only see the slideshow menu on top of the images list and the "jump to" dropdown list on the bottom - where should I find this menu item? What puzzles me a bit is that it seems as if the php script for doing uploads is located under the admin section for the plugin?

Boertjie,
I think I understand what you are looking for, you will need to upgrade to v0.90 available here or at http:/www.ecsnet.org. It has the ability for user's to upload (into a moderated area, or straight to the album) and several other enhancements.
Thanks!
