Geeklog regards the plus sign as an illegal character in the user's email address. The use of a plus sign to allow automatic multiple email addresses has a venerable history, and is a built-in feature of sendmail and other Unix Mail Transfer Agents. It is even supported by Google's Gmail system. It allows for mail addresses like john+geeklog@paladin.demon.co.uk which provides for an automatic new email address for each use, without requiring any system level configuration.
Please support plus addressing.

Geeklog uses a PEAR class to validate email addresses (see function COM_isEmail in lib-common.php).
According to their
changelog[*1] , they started accepting the '+' sign as of version 1.1.7 of the PEAR:Mail class. Geeklog ships with an older version (can't tell you which version exactly right now - probably 1.1.4).
So try updating your PEAR packages.
