Now I feel silly. This is certainly not the first time I've set up a geeklog site, but this is the first time I've run into this problem...
On my way to Step Two, I get the ever famous error "error selecting database"
I've checked my name and password and they are both correct. The path is correct (and I'm guessing if it wasn't, I wouldn't even get this error).
The first time I ran the install, it seemed to work, but I had another error (I forget exactly what it is now). So I went back, updated my config file, deleted and recreated my database, then tried the install script again. That's when I startred getting this error.
Did I mess something up in trying to reinstall? Are there files I can delete so it will read correctly? Do I ghave to start from scratch again?

make sure the user still has rights to that database. clearing the schema and recreateing it sometimes removes rights to that db for a user

No dice.
Even after creating a new database with a completely new name and I still get the error.
