It has been a bit since my original post. Does anyone know how I can add a block similar to the weather block but has the days tidal resports for a specific area instead of the weather? This would be a great feature to have for any fishing/boating sites that use gl. Mine too of course.
Thanks for your help.

Well, I guess it's just am unusual request ...
Is there some service on the web that offers that data (just like for the weather)? Obviously, you have to get the data from somewhere.

There is this software that predicts tides: http://www.flaterco.com/xtide/index.html
I tried installing it myself but it requires knowledge that is beyond me. Perhaps someone else can help.

Have you tried finding a RSS feed with tidal reports?

Dirk,
http://www.tidesonline.com has an interactive site and my location that I am targeting is Hampton Roads and then Virginia Beach.
I hope this site can be used to pull the info from and your help is appreciated.

Why don't you ask the webmaster of tidesonline, perhaps there's a rss feed available?? You use that in a portalblock.

I looked for an rss feed from their website. If they have one wouldnt it be posted on their site? plus, I am really trying to get the report to be defaulted to the local area's tides. I dont want them to have to go through all of the links to get to the local area, that is little better than having a link to tidesonline.com
Not trying to be argumentative

This site has one and I can't find a link to it anywhere. So you might want to email them to see if they have one.

You use the wrong browser man. If you used Firefox you would see the RSS feed as an orange button on the bottom right of your screen. IE is behind the times when it comes to RSS.

Thanks for the tip but I do use Firefox. I only use IE when a page requires it, it's too open to installations of temp file adware/spyware/viruses for me.
I am aware of the rss icon that you refer to but it is not present on the site from which I need a feed.

I am still looking for a resolution to the possible tidal
plug-in. Is this something that is going to be possible
as a plug-in like the weather plug-in? There is actually
tidal info available from the noaa site but I don't know
how to make it do what I need.
please advise,

If there's no RSS feed for that information, someone will have to write a plugin for it (assuming it's allowed to grab that data).
Several of the Geeklog developers are available for contract work ...

Not a very nice solution but you could wrap this info in a staticpage. Like this

Robin,
I had given the static page thing a moment of consideration in the past but decided against it but maybe it's worth another look.
Mark,
you can get me at vbsaltydog@cox.net.
