Hello all,
I am working on designing a web site for a domain name that has not been registered yet. At the same time, my Computer is on DSL and permanently connected to the internet.
Somehow, I have successfully installed Apache and PHP, and in my httpd.conf file, I have stipulated the domain name that I intend to use. When I finished the install, I cannot see the php page when I typed the domain name that I keyed into the httpd.conf file http://www.abc.com/phpinfo.php, but when I type http://localhost/phpinfo.php I was able to see the successful installation of PHP.
Apache 2.0.52
PHP 4.3.9
I have also installed Mysql 4.1.7
The question is would I be able to install Geeklog with the intended domain name while waiting for the name to be fully registered and then pointed to my WAN IP address, or must my domain name be fully registered before I can see success on my Geeklog installation?
Thanks.

no. but it's only a matter of changing one value in the config.php file.
so go install gl and work on it. when your url is up and ready, change the value in the config.php file. also, you can always use your ip address.

Sure you can, just set up entries in your 'hosts' file.
Google it.
