All of my stories have a blank box where the topic icon goes.
I have looked through the forum and tried these...
1. My images are not damaged by uploading them to host. I downloaded the topic.gif and opend it.
2. The URL's for my site are correct. (The other icons used by Geeklog show up on my site, like the admin icons)
3. Yes I have switched themes, I am using the Smoothblue theme. Is this a problem?
Any ideas?

The topic icons should be in /path/to/geeklog/public_html/images/topics. The path you enter in the topics directory is relative to the site URL.
In any decent browser, do a right-click on the place where the topic image is supposed to be and select "view image" (or similar). That should tell you where the image is supposed to be (in the browser's URL bar) and you should be able to figure out things from there.

I am confused...
I have checked
/path/to/geeklog/public_html/images/topics and found 2 icons- topic_news.gif and topic_gl.gif.
If i right click the blank spot as you requested it gives me the URL http://www.theworldtrek.com/images/icons/, and if I FTP into that folder I see topic.gif listed.
What am I doing wrong?

I have just realized that the URL you requested http://www.theworldtrek.com/images/icons/
does not have the image file listed at the end, Why would this happen?

You have to enter the name of the file in the topic editor.
