I updated my servers Php and Apache today and when I went to my site I get the following error:
Server specs:
Apache Version Apache/1.3.31 (Debian GNU/Linux) PHP/4.3.8-9 mod_ssl/2.8.19 OpenSSL/0.9.7d
messenger 1.1 with GL 1.3.9
Heres the error with messenger enabled:
Fatal error: Only variables can be passed by reference in /home/ksb/geeklog/plugins/messenger/functions.inc on line 465
Functions.inc
// Check if user has enabled Messenger to be used for a notification messages
if (isset($siteprefence) AND $sitepreference) {
LINE465 msg_send($user,$subject,$message,0,false,false);
} else { // Send out regular email notificaton
Any Ideas??

Yeh - I think I got the reason actually. I sense I have a conflict with my function name.
Your PHP install now must have another library of functions enabled - the Semaphore and Shared Memory functions. There is now a PHP msg_send function and it's being called instead of my msg_send function.
You can either rename the msg_send function and there are 3 places it is called or contact me and I will send you an updated archive.

Thanks Blaine for the fix, however I now have a new problem. My Account Information page is all blank except for three check boxes associated with the messenger plugin.
