I recently upgraded to 1.3.9, then this weekend (foolishly) tried to install some of the latest CVS updates. I was clearly in over my head because, among other smaller problems, the story editing page (/admin/story.php?mode=edit) is misbehaving.
The main problem is that it is not displaying info like:
author
topics (the topic text is there, the pulldown is there, but no text in the pulldown)
post mode (same as above)
story settings (same as above)
The second problem: if I edit the story text and change nothing else, the preview shows the article with no line breaks, and inserting html does not fix the formatting.
I tried to revert back to my previous 1.3.9 files, but I think I missed something.
Other than my own arrogance and incompetence, what might be causing this problem?

From my experience it is a very complicated issue to try to find back to the old version in such a case.
try to decompress a fresh 1.3.9sr1 somewhere else and compare file dates/sizes, or for the quicker run, just re-install.
If the database got changed you are into deeper trouble however...

Thanks. I think the database might be okay (I have a backup anyway) because the stories and topics are displaying fine outside of the edit page.

Reinstalling seems to have worked! Thanks for your help.
