Try checking the path you entered in your configuration file...see if it is correct.

I figured it out..
the fix for anyone who is interested::
in my lib-common.php file, it read:
require_once( '~/public_html/geeklog-1.3.9sr1/config.php' );
I had to change it to
require_once( '/hom/aphex/public_html/geeklog-1.3.9sr1/config.php' );
Now everything is working great =)

I am having this exact problem... what or why was that change needed? What is the significance? Im trying to figure this out myself.

You should check your lib-common.php file were it says :
require_once( '/path/to/geeklog/config.php' );
You'll have to chance '/path/to/geeklog/config.php' to the path were youre config.php file is.
If this doesn't work, you should check your config.php

A blank page is usually the result of an error somewhere else and the webserver being configured not to display error messages (the install script tries to switch error messages back on, but that may not work, depending on how the webserver is configured).
Check your error.log and try to retrace your steps. Als check the usual places (config.php and lib-common.php) for syntax errors (missing quotes or semicolons).
